In this workshop we will create sculptures to evoke emotion without the use of sculpture. In this exercise emotion words take the place of the script and participants create a sculpture designed to evoke that emotion in the viewer. The catch is that participants are given limitations just like designers are when they begin to create the designs for a production. In this case the set, or sculpture, must be built out of plain white paper and tape. No drawing, no color, and no extra tools other than a straight edge and a pencil. We will go over the elements of design, excluding color, and then each person or group will be given a secret emotion word. Then they create a sculpture and the workshop will critique and discuss each sculpture. This workshop is open and beneficial to all levels including students, faculty, and professionals. All that's needed is a creative mood, out of the box thinking, and a willingness to collaborate and create with a good attitude.
