This presentation's purpose is to improve the audience's knowledge about clinical care pathways and protocols and how design and space planning directly impacts technology interface and subsequent clinical workflows and patient outcomes (and HCHAP Scores). This session will show how interdisciplinary members of design teams (e.g., architects, engineers, interior design, medical planning) and members of clinical healthcare roles (e.g., Nursing, Respiratory and Physicians) can better understand each other’s roles and optimize the post occupancy reality of the true patient care environment. Many clinicians who began the design process may not be in the same position, or even be working there, when the commissioned project is complete. Post occupancy flexibility is more important than ever. Understanding the TRUE clinical environment and the integration between technology and the built environment is critical. We will reference the FGI Guidelines for Emergency Conditions and how to “Future-Proof” a facility in order to more safely and rapidly respond to unforeseen surge population.
