For more than a hundred years, electric utilities have relied on forecasting tools to inform capital investment decisions and enable the provision of safe, reliable, and affordable power. With greater weather extremes now the norm and unprecedented levels of intermittent resources powering the grid, today’s models are becoming increasingly obsolete. Our last panel of the day will explore the dynamics surrounding energy forecasting and the valuable resources that are available to improve precision—as this important field continues to rapidly evolve.
