Biomass Happens: Can We Safely and Cost-Effectively Sequester Carbon?
This panel, presented in partnership with Project 2030, will focus on the possibility of removing legacy carbon emissions through the use of waste biomass that comes from agricultural production and forest treatment.
This panel is presented in partnership with Project 2030.
Bob Epstein, Co-Founder of Project 2030, Environmental Entrepreneurs, and the Berkeley Food Institute, will moderate experts from academia, environmental justice, industry, and government in a discussion about the role of biomass in meeting California’s carbon dioxide removal goals. This panel will focus on waste biomass that comes from agricultural production and forest treatment, which results in tens of millions of dry tons per year. We will discuss necessary safeguards when converting waste biomass to energy, fuel, or to use it for carbon dioxide removal and how to maximize the social benefits.
