Navigating Global Food Systems: Insights and Strategies for Compliance with FDA's Food Traceability Rule
This session will feature regulatory, technology, and industry experts as they discuss successes, challenges, and key learnings associated with the preparation and execution of compliance efforts
Continued globalization of food systems has made it increasingly challenging to pinpoint the source of foodborne illnesses, but outbreaks over the last few decades have underscored the pressing need to overcome that traceability challenge. The FDA’s food Traceability Rule, a critical component of FSMA, mandates that covered entities maintain and share key data elements (KDES) for Critical Tracking Events (CTEs) across the food supply chain. As food industry stakeholders prepare for the 2026 compliance deadline, this unique panel of regulatory, technology, and industry representatives will discuss the dynamic landscape of compliance with the FDA's Food Traceability Rule, shedding light on successes, challenges, and key learnings associated with implementation efforts. The discussion will explore how industry actors are proactively preparing for compliance, sharing valuable insights into their strategies and accomplishments. Attendees will gain a comprehensive understanding of how trading partners are working collaboratively to capture and share the Critical Tracking Events (CTE) and Key Data Elements (KDE) data required for compliance. The panel will additionally discuss the pivotal role technology plays in enabling effective traceability throughout the supply chain.
With a 2026 compliance deadline looming, it is critical for food supply chain actors to promptly begin implementing and testing systems to comply with the FDA’s Food Traceability Rule. Given the intricate nature of data sharing and the collaborative aspect of traceability, attendees will benefit from insights into the strategies and methods employed by food industry stakeholders as they collaborate with their trading partners.
