Building a Reliable Traceability System: A Stepwise Approach
This session will provide a step-by-step guide on designing a comprehensive traceability program, covering key stages such as defining objectives and digitizing data, with insights into challenges like technology selection and employee training
This session will offer a stepwise review of the six stages involved in designing a traceability program. These include laying the foundation, defining scope & objectives, defining Critical Tracking Events (CTEs) and Key Data Elements (KDEs), completing a gap analysis, digitizing data & selecting a traceability system, and preparing for implementation. This stepwise instruction will include guidance around key challenges like choosing a technology provider, training employees, and meeting regulatory requirements. This session will additionally highlight best practices and additional resources. Attendees will leave with the foundational knowledge they need to design a traceability system that supports their business goals and regulatory requirements.
Although regulatory compliance is a significant driver of traceability implementation, traceability data can be used for numerous business objectives. These include the improvement of food safety & quality metrics, operational efficiencies, and supply chain visibility among others. However, traceability programs often fail due to incomplete or ill-informed system design. This session will ensure that attendees are familiar with the steps they need to take to develop a comprehensive, lasting traceability program that works for their organization.
