The Homeland Security Systems Engineering & Development Institute, operated by The MITRE Corporation, in support of the Department of Homeland Security's Office of Health Security's Health, Food, and Agriculture Resiliency Division, performed a risk analysis of the resiliency of the U.S. food supply chains. The study focused on five key commodities: rice, potatoes, chicken, dry beans, and apples. The presentation today will share some of the data sources and disruptions due to human health emergencies, agricultural health, natural disasters, economic factors, foreign trade restrictions, climate change, infrastructure failures, and cybersecurity incidents. The study leveraged data from the U.S. Census Bureau, U.S. Dept. of Agriculture, Federal Emergency Management Agency, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Moody's Analytics, S&P Global, and academic research.
