Sustainable remediation represents a balanced, holistic approach to the management of contaminated land and brownfield sites, addressing the environmental, economic, and social aspects of remediation projects. Greener cleanups can reduce the environmental footprint of site remediation by reducing the impact to energy, water, and natural resources. Various sustainability evaluation tools and example case studies will be shared. NYSDEC Policy Document DER-31 and the Green and Sustainable Remediation and Climate Resiliency Fact Sheet will be discussed.
