Presentation will address the use of a clinical and equipment planner in the design process from the conception of the project, to the develop of funding documents, the development of the request for proposal and development of documents specifically used by DoD and VA, technical reviewers during TEB/SSEB, documentation refinement and SME support during design process and SME support during construction to assist with necessary change orders. Clinical planner and equipment planners will present their perspective and expertise in the above process. Discuss use of expertise and “crowd control” during user group meetings. This includes addressing how these roles support
document development during the RFP process by guiding the users through the documents and the design test and fit and the final design during design review. This limits changes and discussions to those things that “break the rules.”
Will discuss successful utilization of their skills when developing programs for design/room by room needs, initial equipment list, refinement of the list and finalization of the list for use during transition and training. Discuss planning documents used in DoD and VA project execution and how “tight” planning documents during RFP development can lead to less shift in design and construction schedule which is reflected in cost adjustments and modifications from users.
