AI is rapidly advancing at the rational side of planning. What it can’t do is love your clients, care about their
kids, or say, “I’m against you dying early.” That lane is ours, this conversation is to help us own it.
First half, we'll cover non-CFP-exam ways to use client assets as tools to manage real human risk:
• Death (I’m against it): Moving beyond “End of Plan” as a cute label and talking about concrete
ways to use money to support longevity in a family.
• Divorce ($$$$): Successful marriages are more impactful on the family balance sheet than our
clever strategies – “fund the marriage”
• Grandchildren (a fan favorite): We operate in a non-deterministic world, yet help clients to get the
odds in their favor everywhere else. How can they use money to make family formation easier without
trying to script lives – gardening, not sculpting.
Second half, we’ll turn the room into a lab. Small groups will:
1. Share the unconventional, human-first things they’re already doing for clients.
2. Brainstorm new ideas with structured prompts
3. Choose their best 2–3 ideas to report out.
We’ll capture everything into a master idea list that will be attached to the session handout and posted in
the Garrett knowledge bank. You’ll leave with a menu of specific, client-ready ways to use money to
protect what actually matters most.
