The purpose of this presentation is to present real-world advantages of utilizing CPTED applications, CPTED lighting strategies, and CPTED design recommendations, to reinforce positive behavior, create a sense of community and engagement, and limit opportunities for crime. CPTED is about partnerships and collaboration which will be emphasized in the presentation. The application of CPTED is the most cost effective and practical means of reducing crime and improving a sense of ownership and community. With more and more cities codifying CPTED as part of their zoning code and design standards, the expansion of CPTED knowledge and examples allows the attendee to bring home potential solutions that utilize strategies that enhance the physical and social environment which in turn limit opportunities for crime.
