This interdisciplinary presentation is designed for attorneys, members of the judiciary, mediators, and mental health professionals who work with families navigating co-parenting challenges. The session will explore the impact of technology on co-parenting dynamics, and provide practical strategies for managing the use of electronic devices by children and adults to minimize conflict between co-parents.
Learning Objectives:
1. Participants will become familiar with professional guidelines for the use of technology by children and adolescents, as well as their relevance to healthy co-parenting.
2. Attendees will be able to identify two reasons that children and adolescents who exhibit neurodivergent thinking, especially those on the autism spectrum, may be particularly vulnerable to the overuse of screen time.
3. Participants will be better prepared to support families in creating structured and balanced technology use plans that promote children's wellbeing and healthy co-parenting.
