Software-defined vehicles have moved beyond vision and into production. But scaling SDV across vehicle platforms, suppliers, software ecosystems and global programs presents a different challenge: how does an industry built around proprietary architectures create enough common ground to move at software speed? This panel brings together leaders working across the SDV ecosystem to examine the practical building blocks required to move from individual implementations to industry-wide scale. The discussion will explore the role of common vehicle data models and COVESA’s Vehicle Signal Specification (VSS), alongside software platforms, middleware, developer ecosystems, interoperability and new models of industry collaboration. Panelists will discuss where standardization creates competitive advantage rather than constraint, where differentiation should remain proprietary, and what automakers, suppliers and technology companies can do together to reduce duplicated engineering and accelerate deployment. With perspectives spanning SDV platforms, automotive software marketplaces, data-centric infrastructure and industry standards, the panel will move beyond defining SDV to address the harder question: What must the automotive ecosystem standardize, share and solve together so companies can spend less time integrating—and more time innovating?
