Software-defined vehicles promise greater flexibility, faster innovation, and the ability to introduce new functionality throughout the vehicle lifecycle. Yet applications and services still face significant integration complexity as common vehicle functions are exposed differently across OEMs, vehicle generations, platforms, middleware, and suppliers.
This session introduces a capabilities-first approach in which vehicle functionality is described through stable, technology-neutral contracts that define what a vehicle can do rather than how the function is implemented. A capability combines shared semantics, behavior, policy, mappings, and conformance rules, allowing the same interaction to be consistently implemented across different vehicle architectures and technology stacks.
