COVESA’s In-Vehicle Payments initiative is progressing from the definition of a common payment architecture toward a more detailed framework for secure, scalable and interoperable vehicle commerce. This session will provide an update on the work since the previous COVESA status presentation, including the evolution of the IVP white paper and reference architecture.
The latest work proposes a layered trust model combining hardware-rooted vehicle trust with standards-based user authentication and existing payment infrastructure. The presentation will highlight the emerging roles of the vehicle SIM, FIDO-based authentication, OEM systems, telecom providers and the payments ecosystem, and explain how these components can work together to establish trusted user, vehicle and transaction context. It will also outline the next phase of the initiative, including implementation profiles, industry validation, pilot activity and expanded collaboration across OEMs, technology providers and standards organizations.
