In-vehicle payment has been demonstrated for years. The challenge is no longer whether a vehicle can make a payment—it is whether using the vehicle is easier, more trusted and more interoperable than simply reaching for a phone.
The opportunity extends well beyond payments. A vehicle that can securely establish identity and authorization could seamlessly initiate charging, parking, tolling, fueling, subscriptions and other mobility services. But delivering that experience requires automakers, payment providers, infrastructure operators and identity platforms to work across organizational and geographic boundaries.
This panel will explore what is required to move in-vehicle commerce from isolated pilots to an interoperable mobility ecosystem—including digital identity, authentication, tokenization, Plug & Charge, tolling and parking—and who ultimately owns the customer relationship when the vehicle becomes a transaction platform.
