COVESA VSS provides a powerful opportunity to create a common vehicle data foundation for SDV ecosystems, reducing the need for custom integrations andenabling more consistent software, data, and digital-twin workflows across vehicle programs. HARMAN’s SDV lifecycle platform adopts VSS as the vehicle model standard across service abstraction, cloud data pipelines, and digital twin enablement. The session demonstrates practical approach for a VSS overlay, managed through the Kuksa Databroker that captures ECUs placement and composition, hypervisor VM allocation, CPU/RAM resources per VM, firmware and VM image versions, and the workloads running on each VM. We also show what that single model enables: auto-generated onboard services APIs from the VSS vspec, letting onboard middleware, data broker, or services be swapped without rewriting application consumer business logic, and an end-to-end path to the cloud digital twin, where VSS defines collection policy, broker schema, transport encoding, cloud validation and storage, and the twin's access APIs.
