The COVESA VISS specification, which now has reached version 3.2, is developed for the transportation of vehicle data between clients and server. The data model that it supports, the HIM VehicleData profile, is not optimal if clients want services to be executed on the vehicle. This presentation proposes how VISS can be extended with a Service profile to support this. The VISS Service profile will use the HIM Service profile that enables procedure signatures to be defined by extending the well-known tree structure and vspec syntax used in the HIM VehicleData profile. With this extension of VISS, a client will be able to both access vehicle data and execute services over a unified interface.
