Get certified and learn from the best! Trench collapses needlessly kill productive, needed, and loved construction workers each year. Preventing injuries and incidents should be a top priority on every excavation and trenching jobsite. OSHA requires that a competent person perform routine safety inspections of excavations and correct hazards. Who is a competent person? An OSHA "competent person" is defined as "one who is capable of identifying existing and predictable hazards in the surroundings or working conditions which are unsanitary, hazardous, or dangerous to employees, and who has authorization to take prompt corrective measures to eliminate them." This course provides the training component of the excavation competent person designation and includes detailed education on the identification and control of hazards found on excavation jobsites.
