Mental health is not created by systems alone—it is created in relationships, in communities, and in the moments when people feel truly heard. Drawing from lived experience, peer leadership, and the science of salutogenesis—the study of what creates health—this keynote explores how listening transforms not only individual lives, but entire communities. Participants will discover how hope, resilience, and belonging grow when people are seen as partners in their own well-being. This presentation offers a powerful reminder that each person has the ability to strengthen mental health in their communities simply by listening, connecting, and believing in the possibility of recovery and growth. Session Objectives: 1. Describe how listening and community connection contribute to mental health, resilience, and recovery. 2. Explain the concept of salutogenesis and how health is created through meaning, belonging, and empowerment. 3. Identify practical ways individuals and communities can support mental well-being and reduce stigma through everyday interactions. 4. Recognize the value of lived experience and community voice in creating stronger, more responsive mental health systems
