This session highlights how KET resources can be leveraged to build the introductory workplace skills that learners need to succeed in today’s workforce. The session will showcase practical, ready-to-use tools that support career exploration and foundational skill-building for individuals at the beginning of their employment journey. Participants will be introduced to a selection of online resources, focusing on PBS LearningMedia and Workplace Essential Skills. These platforms offer engaging, contextualized Math and Reading content that helps learners develop critical employability skills such as communication, teamwork, problem-solving, professionalism, and workplace readiness. The resources are adaptable across settings, making them useful for adult education activities, workforce training programs, and individual client support. In addition to exploring the content itself, the session will emphasize strategies for integrating these resources into coaching and career counseling activities. Attendees will learn practical ways to approach workforce expectations using real-world scenarios, helping clients see connections between skill development and employment success. We’ll also discuss how digital media can increase engagement while reinforcing essential concepts. Collaboration is a key component of this session. Participants will also have the opportunity to exchange ideas, share challenges they face when communicating basic workplace skills, and recommend approaches that have worked in their programs. By the end of the session, attendees will leave with an expanded personal toolkit, new instructional strategies, and increased confidence in using KET Adult Education resources to support foundational workforce skill development.
