In the beginners' workshop, students learned the basics of using SketchUp and built a digital model box. In this workshop, take the next step and model actual scenic elements. Students will create shapes and forms, render them with colors and textures, and place the scenic elements in the previously created model box. This workshop is appropriate for students who participated in my beginning workshop, and others who have had some previous familiarity with SketchUp.
Attendance at the first SketchUp workshop is NOT required for this one. I will supply a digital model box for any student who did not attend the first workshop. This workshop will not demonstrate SketchUp basics, so it is recommended that students without previous SketchUp experience attend the Basics workshop.
Students can play along at home by navigating to app.sketchup.com on a laptop or desktop computer (Note: this workshop will not work on mobile devices). SketchUp is possible to navigate with a touch-pad, but some of the shortcuts are easier to do with an actual mouse. If you have a very small computer screen, you might find it useful to have an external monitor or tablet to view the workshop, while using your whole computer screen for creating the SketchUp model.
