Breakout Session 5.3: Leveling Up Leadership, Staff Capacity and Student Acceleration by Keeping it R.E.A.L.
Brunswick County School leaders will share strategic processes and procedures purposefully implemented to build staff capacity and effectiveness to accelerate student proficiency. In the Here We Grow strategic plan, BCS is developing a collaborative culture of high expectations for all students and staff. Under the leadership of Dr. Oates, the Southeast Regional Superintendent of the Year, BCS is focused on Keeping it REAL in 2022-2023. Attend this session to learn about the specific strategies BCS uses for vertical alignment from district to school level to student acceleration and success. Jen Damin, Executive Director of Professional Development and Elementary Education will share the interdisciplinary departmental collaboration & communication systems in place for communication, collaboration and professional development plans designed to ensure our goals and strategies have a collective impact on student learning. Allie Dixon, Principal of Belville Elementary, will share her school's systematic approach to school level communication and collaboration highlighting the organization and structure of her master schedule to include WIN time and PLCs. Shelly Mongelli, Belville's Instructional Coach, will share how core and intervention data is compiled and analyzed to ensure students are accelerating to grade level and above grade level proficiency. Belville Elementary Leaders will also share interdisciplinary team work for Standard Treatment Protocol and data monitoring.
