A cornerstone of every successful Professional Learning Community is collaborative capacity building. Peer educators build on their individual expertise by working collaboratively, often in content or grade-based teams within their schools, by learning from each other's strengths. Collaborative capacity building, however, does not have to be confined into the walls of a single school building. Our proposed presentation will detail the ways in which we have built cross-school collaborative structures aimed at increasing educator capacity and yielding improved student outcomes in multiple schools. We will dive deeper into how to establish a strong collaborative foundation within different types of schools while building on that foundation for district-wide professional growth among different teaching staffs. In this presentation, we will also demonstrate how school-based administrators play a critical role in establishing a collaborative culture of peer development and accountability across multiple schools by working with other principals.
