It is all too easy to fall into the rhythm of the day-to-day Pokemon hunt of Access Services - managing the front desk, supervising student workers, running course reserves, or stacks maintenance. However, it’s hard for Access staff to find themselves in the game when libraries work on strategic plans or how they tie into higher-level university goals. Are you wanting to evolve your staff to the next level? Join two Access Services librarians in different parts of their Pokemon (strategic thinking) journeys, from very different institutions as we discuss raising our departments’ levels and unlock hidden abilities. We will look at moving staff to a strategic mindset, using mission, vision, and customer service philosophies to help staff see their work reflected in higher-level strategies and how all Access Services staff can become premier Pokemon trainers.
