Psychological assessments and neuropsychological assessments are unique and important skills developed by psychologists. They can also be costly and time consuming for patients. Assess these services can be a barrier to those who lack health insurance and to people in minority populations. Yet these services can be extremely beneficial for directing treatment for mental and medical health. We have been testing methods for introducing assessment and neuropsychological assessment into Primary Care settings in order to reach patients who most likely would not present for testing at a mental health clinic. Short batteries for evaluating older adults in acute situations and children, teens and adults with possible ADHD have been used for the past 3 years with success. We look forward to sharing the ways we have tried to reach underserved, uninsured, and those with limited English for psychological and neuropsychological assessments for low to no cost to the patient while simultaneously training practicum students in managing assessments with diverse groups of patients.
