The Institute for Transportation Research and Education (ITRE) at NC State University helps Boards of Education and other elected officials collaborate on school facility planning topics by offering defensible and data-focused recommendations and analyses.
With over two decades of North Carolina-based experience assisting school districts through some of the most challenging school facility planning decisions, ITRE is an experienced partner with the technical and interpersonal expertise to help. Over just the past 10 years ITRE has completed over 50 projects assisting districts across the state.
Our process begins by coordinating with local planning agencies, learning from local knowledge, and then leveraging our best practices and lessons learned from other districts. Whether tasked with forecasting student enrollment, selecting new school sites, creating school facility consolidation scenarios, or optimizing attendance zones, ITRE conducts independent and apolitical analyses to help serve our client districts.
