(1st Time Offered) Class Size Limited to 18 Individuals Unfortunately, the prevalence of significant widespread flooding across the Midwest are becoming an almost annual incident. When large flood events occur local government jurisdictions reach out to secure resources to manufacture artificial barriers for holding back flood waters – such as sandbags. Recently, The Salvation Army in Central Territory has invested in sandbagging machines as a service to local jurisdictions to help produce sandbags in large quantities quickly. This workshop will introduce EDS volunteers on how to serve in a supervisory support capacity for sandbagging operations. It will include the transportation, set up, safe operations and trouble shooting. You will learn how to actual operate the machine and instruct local unaffiliated volunteers to be able to produce as many as 1,600 sandbags per hour.
