The transition from traditional automotive development to building and supporting a global fleet of software-defined vehicles requires layers of competencies to succeed. While many manufacturers are racing ahead with ambitious targets for over-the-air software updates and attendant aftersales revenue, most have struggled to build the foundation required to deliver on those promises. In this keynote presentation, we will borrow Ambraham Maslow's hierarchy of needs and map them to the 5 competencies that manufacturers must develop before they can truly execute on a software-defined vehicle-centric growth strategy.
