AI is rapidly transforming the world of 9-1-1, but the most important part of emergency response has never been technology. It is the human behind the badge and behind the headset, making impossible decisions in real time. Too often, 9-1-1 trainers find themselves consumed by the constant demands of creating role-play scenarios, writing quizzes, building flashcards, and documenting performance metrics. While necessary, these tasks can quickly absorb the majority of a trainer’s time and energy, leaving less room for what matters most: developing people. At ThisGen 911, we are changing that dynamic.
This session explores how human-centered AI, and the platform we are building at ThisGen 911, is designed not to replace trainers or telecommunicators, but to elevate them. We will discuss what it means for trainers to move beyond documentation and step fully into their roles as coaches, mentors, and champions for new telecommunicators. Ultimately, this session focuses on how we are helping put the “human” back into AI, one simulated call at a time.
