The comment period on the Food and Drug Administration’s proposed FSMA rule on laboratory accreditation for analyses of food closed in April. If finalized, laboratory accreditation and its accompanying standards and methods would apply in specific food testing circumstances. This presentation will examine the components of the proposed rule from reporting requirements, record retention to quality assurance. The audience will learn which laboratories may come under the jurisdiction of this ruling and how they should prepare. The roles of accreditation bodies and the FDA will also be explored.
