Title:  An Approach for FMS Integration into COVESA VSS  Abstract: The development of software-defined vehicles (SDV) is driving a fundamental transformation and paradigm shift across the entire commercial vehicle and transport logistics industry. Based on centralized electronic/ compute architectures, decoupling of hardware and software, cloud connectivity and use of generative AI, new SDV platforms will fundamentally change the way commercial vehicles are developed, produced, operated, updated, maintained, and repaired throughout their lifecycle. A strong backbone to achieve this is the establishment of managed APIs between central entities and towards the rest of the vehicle system, which open the access to the rich pool of vehicle data in a non-discriminative way. With FMS, released first in the 2000, a first step towards this has been done in the Commercial Vehicle area. A few more versions have been released since then and now the version 5 is to be released. Together with a group of truck experts at ACEA (European association for OEMs) several options for FMS integration in COVESA VSS are under analysis. In this work we want to outline these possibilities and propose some APIs and report on first example applications which then show its fitness for commercial vehicles.
