Experienced fundraisers are rare — and expensive. Even in New Hampshire, salaries for seasoned professionals can exceed $100,000, making it a challenge to hire top talent. Multiple reports put the average tenure of a development professional between 16 and 18 months. This combination of high cost and high turnover makes it challenging to sustain the fundraising revenue your organization needs in order to meet its mission.
This session focuses on developing in-house talent through mentorship and practical guidance. Drawing on over 20 years of fundraising experience, and 30 years of management experience, I will share strategies for coaching, on-boarding, and developing early-career fundraisers. I’ll spend extra time looking at transferable skills -- half of my last team had no prior fundraising experience. Participants will leave with actionable strategies, templates, and frameworks to grow capable fundraising teams and strengthen organizational capacity.
