Restoring PRIDE
"After years of frequent principal turnover that brought shifting priorities and uncertainty, Albemarle High School began the deliberate work of rebuilding stability, trust, and pride across the entire school community. In 2023, a new principal and leadership team adopted a back-to-basics approach centered on relationships, consistency, and accountability. This collaborative effort united staff, students, and families around a shared goal: reestablishing Albemarle High School as a place where students thrive and teachers want to work. Through clear systems for behavior and academics, data-informed decision-making, and intentional engagement with the community, the school redefined its culture and expectations. Staff collaboration strengthened, student behavior improved, and pride in being a Bulldog returned. The results were measurable and meaningful. Albemarle High School met growth for the first time ever in 2023–24 and sustained it in 2024–25, raising its school performance grade from a “D” to a “C.” This session will highlight the leadership practices, structures, and mindsets that made the turnaround possible—providing participants with practical strategies to build stability, foster collaboration, and drive sustainable school improvement."
