Breakout 6.4: Five Minutes or Less: A Time Hack for Growing Teachers and Reclaiming Leadership Purpose
District and building administrators are expected to be instructional leaders, but how much time for coaching do most schedules allow? Teachers and leaders need more support than ever, yet you face increasing demands on your time. How can you be a great leader of teacher growth when you can’t even find time to observe, let alone to collect data and conduct post-observation conferences? District and building leaders at Cherokee Central School have tackled these challenges with a simple and short coaching method. Learn how we help others grow by consistently providing brief opportunities for them to reflect deeply and, over time, to become more reflective professionals who can grow with or without your guidance. The method works for coaching teachers as well as other leaders. In this session, you will learn to use three simple questions to help people reflect. The technique can be used effectively without having to observe or prepare and can be implemented with fidelity in five minutes or less.
