Instructor Biography
In October of 2021, Keith Forsythe began a second career as a Technical Sales Specialist for Defense Technology. Keith specializes in Defense Technology’s less lethal and Monadnock products. Prior to his current employment by Defense Technology, Keith served the City of Kenner Louisiana Police Department for over 26 years, retiring with the rank of Lieutenant. During those years, Keith served in several divisions, such as Patrol, Criminal Investigations, and Training. Keith was assigned as the Training Coordinator/Academy Director for the last 16 years of his career. Keith’s police tactical experience began in 1997 when he was assigned to the Department’s S.W.A.T. Team. Keith retired having been the Team’s Commander for the last 12 years of his service. Keith’s experience as a Trainer began in 1998 when he became a Louisiana POST Firearms Instructor. In addition to numerous instructor certifications, Keith became an Adjunct Instructor for the Safariland Training Group in 2011 and the National Center for Biomedical Research and Training (NCBRT) in 2018. As such, Keith has trained law enforcement professionals around the country for the last 11 years in such areas as less lethal munitions, use of ballistic shields, active shooter, high risk warrant execution and response to ambushes.
Course Description
The Grenadier operator Course takes the concepts of less lethal options and focuses them in a crowd management environment. Our instructors will discuss each related munition, lessons learned from recent events and which less lethal options haven proven successful to resolve situations with minimal uses of force. All students will deploy impact, chemical, OC, and distraction device crowd munitions in a crowd control setting. Defense Technology Training uses a multi-phased approach which includes core skill development, decision building drills, policy, and legal considerations.
