This course will make a deep dive into the use of drones to plan and execute SWAT missions.
This course will make a deep dive into the use of drones to plan and execute SWAT missions. The following will be discussed at length and there will be several videos shown of the capabilities that drones bring the table with the right training, equipment and execution:
Pre-Mission Planning
Pre-Op Surveillance
Overwatch Considerations
Indoor Operations
Searching and Perching
Mapping Critical Incidents
Streaming/Downlink Options
Incident Debriefs
Post Op debriefs
I will also slot time for operators to use indoor drones and fly low-pressure scenarios, using the drone to visually search for people inside a structure and implementing the theory taught in the morning.
Sergeant Brett Bousema, of Indy Metro PD, will be presenting a short bit on their UAS program, how they're deploying drones to advance their tactical operations, as well as an incident debrief or two from their operations.
Student Equipment Required: If students are able to bring indoor drones they use for tactical deployments, great, if not, we can make due.
Instructor equipment required: Projector, Power for charging batteries, paper target would be helpful for indoor scenarios
