This two day course will prepare the student to return to their agency ready to join an existing firearms maintenance cadre or establish their own program to oversee their fleet of AR pattern rifles. The course goes over relevant history and development of common AR rifles used today by LE as well as equipping the student to oversee the inspection, maintenance and repair of agency or officer rifles. The ultimate goal is to provide the student with the knowledge and skill to ensure that the equipment being utilized by officers on duty will perform when needed.
Topics include:
-AR15 parts, detailed breakdown and nomenclature
-Configurations, operating systems and set-up
-Cycles of operations
-Detailed disassembly and assembly
-Parts inspection
-Diagnosing rifle malfunctions and function
-Repair and parts replacement
-Gas key replacement
-Barrel replacement, gas block securing methods, and muzzle device/suppressor mount installation
-Selecting and determining quality parts
-Proper accessory installation and optimal setup
-Optic installation
-Armorer logistics, record keeping, purchasing resources, shop equipment, chemicals/supplies, general tools and specialty tools
-Armorer versus Gunsmith and scope of performed work
-Policy and best practices
This is a hands on course where the student will become very familiar with the detailed parts and operation of the AR platform.
