Over the last several years, we have personally witnessed the power of grant writing and the impact those funds have in our classrooms as part of developing a culture of high expectations for both staff and students. Making grant writing a non-negotiable and creating teacher buy-in for the initiative has served to aid in instructional improvement for our students. We would like to show you how these two Title 1 schools from eastern North Carolina learned to incorporate grant writing as a part of everyday life and the tremendous benefits our students reaped from the culture shift. Just to frame the significance of the hard work and dedication that went into this initiative, I would like to share some figures from our efforts. During the 2016-2017 school year, Northwest Elementary School raised $5,564.83 in grant dollars. We kept building our capacity and raising the bar until finally during the 2020-2021 school year, Northwest Elementary School raised over $175,000! We started the initiative over at Contentnea-Savannah K-8 School during the 2022-2023 school year. During the 2021-2022 school year, Contentnea-Savannah K-8 raised just over $16,000. During the 2022-2023 school year, Contentnea-Savannah K-8 School raised over $42,000! Come and let us "Show YOU the Money!!!"
