During the Why Not PreK? breakout session participants will gain dense information as to how they might better support PreK within their schools. We will be providing an overview of JCPS and how PreK is done as to the Why (EC, and other ways: FFS, NCPREK, Title1) PreK exist, What (Offered vs. Required, PreK teacher evaluation tools) should be expected, Intentionality (Curricula) of preparing students for their educational trajectory, Who (Licensing, DHHS, DCDEE, EC) governs and rules that PreK must follow, as well as When (SEL) behaviors are not ideal, how to effectively deal with them for 3-5 year olds. Participants will be able to walk away with a bank of resources to be more equipped than before to support, monitor, evaluate, and be in the “know” of everything PreK!!!
