Even for musical theatre performers dance is often taught primarily as physical technique. While strong technique is a necessary foundation, it is the musical theatre performer's ability to embody the movement and bring meaning to it which bring the movement to life and give it power. Applying a variety of acting techniques to a dance combination - including the application of focus, relationship, subtext, breath and intention as well as techniques from both Wesley Balk and Rudolf Laban, this workshop will assist performers and teachers in developing techniques for bringing meaning to movement.
