Dr. Shannon Black grew up in Covington, Indiana and received her undergraduate degree in Biology from Hanover College. Upon graduation from Hanover she returned to Covington. At this point in her life, she didn't know what she wanted to do but she knew she didn't want to live in that small town forever. That is when Innate kicked in. Dr. Black had never been adjusted, met a chiropractor or even heard about a friend or family member getting adjusted. But as she looked for her escape from small town living, she stumbled across chiropractic school. Four years of school and a doctorate that could be started in three months was the perfect adventure for the self-proclaimed nerd. Dr. Black thrived academically at Cleveland Chiropractic and graduated cum laude. Despite the high GPA, she did not learn the art or philosophy of chiropractic. After graduation she moved to Colorado Springs and started her own practice.
She believed what she was taught in school- be cash only because you'll get audited and lose all your money, adjust 4-5x and then refer to an MD if symptoms don't resolve, and there's a high chance a stroke will happen in your office. After 4 years practicing under this model Dr. Black was stressed out, financially maxed out and done with chiropractic. Luckily, she was forced to go to a philosophy-based chiropractic seminar. That weekend changed everything. She learned about the 33 principles, healing from ADIO, and the truth about chiropracTIC.
It's been ten years since that seminar and now Dr. Black is a chiropractic philosophy and art enthusiast, going to as many principled seminars that she can fit in her schedule. She even gave her identical twin girls chiropractic names- Avery Lux and Bennie Jett (BJ). Since her transition from medipractor to principled TOR her practice has grown into an extremely high volume office where miracles are seen and lives are changed.
