DDS is a middleware featuring a service-oriented architecture and a publish-subscribe communication mechanism. This flexible communication system has been widely adopted across various industries, including aerospace, defense, automotive, and robotics. Recently, DDS has gained some traction in the automotive industry and is being integrated with open-source platforms like COVESA. VSS, a COVESA specification, defines each item by default as its own topic type/struct. RTI has grouped these data items into common topic types and generated IDL files. These IDL files are then imported to develop DDS-based applications that support VSS specifications.
