Get ready for a fun, behind-the-scenes look at some of my wildest adventures trying to change the world, one bold project at a time! Over the years, I’ve had a front-row seat to efforts to shake up industries, and trust me—I have the scars to show for it. From rolling up my sleeves to bring transparency to software supply chains with the Software Bill of Materials (SBOM) and the SPDX project, to dreaming big with Linux in Mobile (LiMO) and trying to open-source the entire mobile ecosystem, I’ve seen my share of changeups and curveballs.
I jumped headfirst into the challenge of making in-vehicle software as seamless as your smartphone with the Software Development Link (SDL) project and GENIVI, because why shouldn’t your car be as intuitive as everything else in your life? And then there was my foray into the future of urban mobility with the Mobility Data Specification (MDS) and the Open Mobility Foundation (OMF)—a deep dive into how cities and technology can collaborate to reimagine how we move.
Through it all, I’ve gathered plenty of hard-earned lessons on what it takes to foster collaboration, spark innovation, and navigate the chaos of trying to change entire systems. In this talk, I’ll share the stories, the wins, the setbacks, and most importantly, what I’ve learned from trying (and sometimes failing) to bring vision to reality. It turns out changing the world is harder than it looks—but worth the ride!
