Join us in this interactive and engaging session exploring current realities of weatherization workforces. We’ll take a road trip across Kentucky and explore the people that will fill our weatherization jobs in the future, including how to find them and retain them. We’ll pause along the way at some pit stops and dive into the pain points along the journey, including culture & wages. And, alas, we’ll set our pathway towards some real possibilities that yield tangible solutions to the challenges we are facing. Let’s hit the road together!
Learner Objectives
1.) By the end of the session, participants will demonstrate an understanding and awareness of future workforce characteristics specific to clean energy and weatherization fields.
2.) By the end of the session, participants will gain specific recruitment tools for weatherization workforce outreach in high school/community college students, second chance/fair chance pools, and pathway change models from retail and service industries.
3.) By the end of the session, participants will determine specific points of workforce challenges (pain points) in career pathway progression from entry to mid-level, to leadership positions.
4.) By the end of the session, participants will engage with fellow road trippers in understanding current compensation trends and opportunities to positively affect employees of the future.
5.) By the end of the session, participants will gain specific strategies to support positive culture within the special work environments of weatherization; and the unique day-to-day work within weatherization crew spaces.
