The Reynolds Materials seminar will be a general introduction to mold making and casting as it relates to prop making and life casting. Topics will include pouring a basic one-part mold, as well as a discussion of cut molds and multi-part molds, a demonstration of a Brush On mold for inanimate objects and also discuss brush-on molds for life casting, a demonstration using alginate for life casting, followed by casting a silicone hand from the alginate mold, casting with basic urethane resins, rotocasting to create lightweight hollow pieces, and casting with both flexible and rigid foams for lightweight props. In addition, examples of Smash Plastic for breakaway props will be presented with discussion of casting and use.
