The "Why" and the "How" to utilize Facility Dogs when working with victims and children
Facility Dogs are increasingly being used in a variety of ways, both nationally and abroad, to assist victims and witnesses through investigations and legal proceedings. In this session, presenters will talk about the use of Facility Dogs specifically in the Child Advocacy Center (CAC), law enforcement agencies, District Attorney's office, and the courthouse. Attendees will learn about best practices in utilizing a dog in the Criminal Justice system, implementation of a Facility Dog Program, successes and challenges with having a Facility Dog program, how the dogs are used in court and in forensic interviews, and the benefits dogs can have on victims and witnesses. Facility Dogs, Marybeth and Eli will also be present to show off their skills!
