This workshop will discuss the science of resilience and well-being and teach practical skills to enhance the ability to navigate adversity and grow through challenges. We will review a working definition of resilience, describe the factors that contribute to it, and focus on the role of optimism in coping with setbacks and challenges. This workshop will also explore six strategies that create a mindset of optimism. Attendees will have the opportunity to apply the six strategies through a guided activity.
o Learn about resilience and protective factors.
o Explore the science of optimism.
o Identify the definition and benefits of learned optimism.
o Review six optimism strategies to increase resilience and
build an optimistic mindset when it is beneficial.
