Despite stereotypes of only affecting "thin white affluent girls," eating disorders are very common across ages, genders, ethnicities, body sizes, and socioeconomic statuses. They can lead to medical complications affecting every organ system and present in virtually every medical speciality, and yet most medical providers do not receive adequate training on eating disorders. In this session, we will review common eating disorder myths, medical complications, and medical management of eating disorders.
