New York’s Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (CLCPA) set bold decarbonization goals, but recent developments—including the creation and relocation of the Office of Renewable Energy Siting (ORES) under the RAPID Act—raise important questions. This session explores how these policies affect farmers, local communities, and the state’s energy reliability. We’ll examine the impacts of transmission projects, challenges with meeting energy targets, and lessons from other regions like California and Germany. With growing concerns about rising costs and grid reliability, we’ll also discuss what a more balanced path forward might look like.
